We didn't invent this cocktail. It came to us from a talented bartender who was experimenting with our Bourbon Barrel Aged Maple Syrup and found that it creates the perfect bridge between fine mezcal and complex wine-based ingredients.

What makes it special? Our maple syrup spends time aging in bourbon barrels, picking up subtle oak and vanilla notes that harmonize beautifully with Del Maguey Vida Mezcal. This handcrafted spirit brings aromas of tropical fruit, honey and roasted agave, with flavors of ginger, cinnamon and tangerine.

The supporting cast is equally impressive. Pineau des Charentes contributes elegant notes of fresh and dried fruits with its rich character developed through oak barrel aging. Carpano Antica vermouth adds its unmistakable vanilla-forward profile (sourced from Madagascar, Papua New Guinea, and Tahiti) along with spicy, citrusy notes of almond, raisins, and cloves. Fresh lemon provides essential brightness, while a dash of bitters and pinch of salt perfect the balance.

Each premium ingredient in the KTG brings its own distinct character, creating a cocktail that's complex yet harmonious. But it's our bourbon barrel aged maple syrup that ties everything together, its rich depth complementing both the fruity mezcal and the vanilla notes of the vermouth.

Try it yourself and let us know what you think. The KTG might just change how you think about maple syrup.

Method

  1. Prepare your tools: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and gather all ingredients.
  2. Combine ingredients: Add mezcal, lemon juice, Pineau des Charentes, Carpano Antica, BLiS™ Bourbon Barrel Aged Maple Syrup, angostura bitters, and a pinch of salt to the shaker.
  3. Shake vigorously: Shake until the outside of the shaker becomes frosted and cold to the touch (about 15 seconds).
  4. Serve: Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
  5. Garnish: Add a twist of lemon peel and sprinkle a small pinch of fine salt over the drink's surface.
